Absolutely lovely, relaxing experience! Two nights, 1 1/2 days on the house boat Maniyara.
We loved everything about being on the water and spent almost all our time on the roof deck. Absolute bliss.
It's great to have the air conditioned living room (with attractive and comfy couches) and bedroom when parked.
The two staff were really great! Friendly, attentive and accommodating. One morning I went up to the roof early and one offered to bring me coffee! So nice.
The food was fabulous! We had let them know ahead of time that we liked spicy and it was amazing and plentiful. Honestly some of the best fish I've ever eaten. And amazing that it was all freshly prepared on the boat!
They let me keep medicine and seltzer in their fridge which was very nice.
First day we took a little open top boat ride through some smaller backwater canals with 4 people from a different boat. Second day we stopped at an area with a large catholic compound, some shops and an ATM. Later, stopped for a massage which was quite nice.
The only complaint I have is related to the use of the word "Luxury" to describe these boats. For the $200 USD per night (all inclusive) we paid (and I realize a boat is expensive item to maintain and we had two dedicated staff people the whole time), the boat itself is far from a luxury experience. I'm sure it was when it was new (9 years ago?), but now it is a tad rundown. The biggest issue was the very smelly bathroom (from the leaking water behind the toilet?), missing shower door and no hot water. We just opened the bathroom window and kept the door closed.
Overall though, a really great experience that I would happily repeat. I just had to take a minute to adjust my expectations.

We took the two-night trip from Alleppey on the Maniyara and it was wonderful. The scenery was beautiful, the two-man crew was delightful and the food was absolutely delicious. (I asked in advance that the food not be watered down for our Western palates, and they delivered in spades. Every meal was a revelation). It was one of the most peaceful travel experiences of my life. I was concerned two nights might be too much, but I could easily have done three.
The Maniyara is a lovely boat, but it's age is showing. Veneer was peeling, there was a leak behind the toilet, the observation deck padding is coming apart, etc. None of this detracted significantly from our enjoyment; just be aware that there may be some discrepancy between Western expectations and Indian reality when it comes to a "luxury" houseboat.
Overall, a memorable experience and a must do if you are in Kerala.

I cannot thank this team enough for planning the most incredible trip to Kerala for us, their professionalism was unmatched. They booked us into amazing resorts throughout the trip, but the highlight was definitely the houseboat stay it came with a personal chef who cooked 'wedding-grade' food that was absolutely delicious! The real magic, however, was the private safari they arranged in the GAVI tribal village. Tracking inside the tiger reserve was a lifetime experience, and I honestly feel only they could make such exclusive access possible. If you want a trip that goes beyond the ordinary with perfect planning, book with them! Special thanks to Sree Sir, Gopika and Sooraj.

We went on a small house boat for only two persons. It had beautiful wooden interior and was staffed by a captain and a chef. In the afternoon we changed to a smaller boat for a while to get into the smaller canals. This was a beautiful and relaxing tour and except for seeing rice fields, houses and people living in the backwaters, we also saw a lot of different kinds of birds. The tour included lunch, dinner and breakfast and it was all really tasty and fresh! Only tip for future travelers is to bring the mosquito spray. In the evening there is of course a lot of mosquitos and this particular small boat we went on had the dinner table outdoors with canvas walls rolled down at sundown. Also, due to mosquitos you need to sleep with the fan and the aircon on. We thought it was perfect anyways but it’s good to know. We really think this was an amazing experience.

Srees Tours And Travel organised our Kerala trip. Although we were somewhat apprehensive, but our apprehension turned out to be wrong. We started from Kochi (on 25th December) & ended at Trivandrum (on 1st January). The driver, Mr. Abbas, attached to us was very well acquainted with all the places of interest. Our hotels & houseboat were very good except hotel Jasmine Palace at Kovalam (I would rate this hotel 2.5 out of 5). But I would not blame my tour operator for this as he booked it for us after discussion. Athirapally falls, Tea Gardens at Munnar, Martial Arts show at Thekkady, Varkala Beach, Poovar Island and Kovalam Beach were highlights of our trip. Darshan at Azhimala Lord Shiv Temple on our way back from Poovar Island & Padmnabhswamy Temple at Trivandrum was a divine experience. Just I would not recommend boating at Periyar Tiger Reserve. I found it sheer wastage of time. But travellers can decide of their own. In the end, I would thank Mr. Arun for arranging such a wonderful trip for us. Actually, finding a tour operator is really difficult online and one have to use ones sense to distinguish between so many and choose one. I had chosen Sree Tours and I was right.
The hotels were very good and food was highly satisfactory. Though the rate was a bit high but compatible with quality. Especially, I have chosen them because they are Kerala based.
One more quality is always interactive.

Sree Tours and Travels helped us to plan a really memorable trip to Kerala last month. Our recent Kerala trip covering Munnar, Thekkady, and Kumarakom was absolutely fantastic, and I can't express enough how well Srees tour operator planned and executed every detail. From start to finish, everything was flawless, and we were treated to an unforgettable experience in God's Own Country.
Munnar: From the moment we arrived in Munnar, we were captivated by its lush greenery and the cool mountain air. The tea gardens stretched as far as the eye could see, and we were lucky to visit some of the most scenic spots in the region. The Eravikulam National Park was a highlight, with panoramic views and sightings of the endangered Nilgiri Tahr. Our stay in Munnar was at a charming resort, where we were treated to excellent hospitality and stunning views of the hills. Our guide here was not only informative but also went out of his way to suggest local eateries and hidden gems we wouldn’t have found on our own.
Thekkady: The drive to Thekkady was scenic, and the place itself exceeded our expectations. The boat ride on Periyar Lake was a serene experience. We were able to spot various birds, and though the animals were elusive, the jungle around the lake created an enchanting atmosphere. The spice plantation tour was a real treat, offering insight into the region’s agricultural heritage. Our guide in Thekkady was excellent – not only did he explain the flora and fauna, but he also gave us a deeper understanding of the cultural significance of the spices grown in the area.
Kumarakom: Ending the trip with a houseboat stay in Kumarakom was truly magical. The tranquil backwaters of Kerala are unlike anything else, and our houseboat cruise was peaceful and scenic. The boat crew was incredibly friendly.We glided past lush greenery, traditional Kerala-style homes, and small villages, offering a glimpse into the slower pace of life in the region. The sunset over the backwaters was a perfect moment to reflect on the beauty of the trip. It felt like we were in a different world, far removed from the usual hustle and bustle.
Throughout the journey, the tour operator took care of everything – from airport transfers to hotel check-ins, ensuring smooth transitions at every point. The accommodations were top-notch, each with its own unique charm, and we never had to worry about anything. The guides in each location were professional, friendly, and highly knowledgeable, which enhanced our experience even more. I organised a family tour with Sree tours and travels. This was our second time as he arranged exceptionally well the first time. I troubled him so many times for modification of the itinerary, he did so and made us feel more comfortable. For me kerala tour means it’s Sree tours.

We had a great tour of Kerala with Srees Tours. From the moment we were picked up at Kochi airport until we were dropped off at our hotel in Varkala we had great attention from our driver Jaison. We particularly enjoyed the sunrise walk in Munnar and the backwater 2 night boat trip from Allepey: we were fed royally as we passed through beautiful scenery.
All in all it was a wonderful trip staying at lovely hotels. We would recommend Srees Tours to anyone who wants to see and experience Kerala.
