This is the best route if you want to reach Doodhpathri without any visiting on the way. Srinagar – Budgam – Khan Sahib – Doodhpathri. Total 42 km and it takes about 1.5 hrs to 2hrs of direct drive.

This route covers some of the best viewpoints and attractions on the way to Doodhpathri. Srinagar – Budgam – Yousmarg Viewpoint – Khan Sahib – Doodhpathri. Total 55 km and it takes around 2 hrs of drive time.

Important Travel Advice:

• The best time to visit Doodhpathri is during summer from Apr to July.  During winter, the road may get blocked and travel is difficult.
• If you are going for this, try to go early so that afternoon you can get time to visit some places or go shopping at Srinagar.
• During summer time this place is a little bit crowded.  Due to small places and less parking is available, vehicle entry is not permitted from the entry point.  The entry point is approximately 2kms away from the main Doodhpathri stream. In this case, travelers need to hire a pony to reach Doodhpathri stream.  
• It’s better not to club this tour with Yousmarg tour
• Doodhpathri has no restaurants, so it is advised to carry mineral water and other snacks if required.  But we strongly recommend choosing local food prepared by local Kashmiris on the road side.  We have personally tried this and this food is very tasty.   
• During summer, you can wear a tea shirt and jeans.  No warm clothes are required as the temperature is moderate. 
• It is advisable to leave Srinagar early in the morning to enjoy the full day at Doodhpathri.

Is There a Prior Permission Required for Vehicles to Enter Doodhpathri?

No, there is no prior permission required. There is a security point at the entry point of Doodhpathri approximately 2 km before the milky stream. They may stop your vehicle and ask to hire a pony to go to Doodhpathri.  Just inform them that you are not interested in going by a pony and pay an entry fee. You can take your vehicle till the main sightseeing point. They may not allow this if there is a huge rush and parking is not available.

Can I Plan to Visit Doodhpathri and Yousmarg the Same Day?

No, it’s better to plan two separate trips due to a few reasons. First – Yousmarg may take more time as going down to the stream takes more time. The same way there are many steps to come back from the stream to the main parking area. It will be a tiresome trip if you club both of these in a one day tour. Second – Even if you plan both this in one day tour, the taxi will charge two separate rates for this tour. Moreover both places need time to enjoy and take photos, so better plan two separate trips.

Can I Stay in Doodhpathri?

No, there is no accommodation or home stay available to stay. But you can stay at Budgam.  

How to Plan a Best Trip?

Start Srinagar early by 7:30 am, approximate arrival will be at 09:30 hrs. First, go straight to the milky stream and enjoy nature and take photos. Then cross the small bridge and walk to the pine forest.  Both these need a minimum of 1.5-2 hrs. Come back, start moving to and then stop at the valley. Walk a little down below, experience local shepherds and sheep at the meadows, spend some time and take photos.  Come back to your vehicle and start moving to Srinagar.

How Long It Takes to Visit Doodhpathri from Srinagar:

Minimum 6 – 7 hours required depending on road traffic.
