You will see a local tapper climb a coconut tree with great ease and collect fresh coconut sap from the top. This skill has been passed down from one generation to the next. After the tapping, you will get a chance to taste this fresh toddy. In the morning, fresh toddy is mildly sweet and very refreshing. It is a unique experience that gives you a real feel of village life in Kumarakom.

Narrow Canal Cruise and Local Village Experience:

A special part of this tour is the ride through the narrow canals of Kumarakom. These small canals go deep inside the villages, where bigger boats simply cannot go. • 05:45 am – Arriving at the boarding point, our representative will meet and greet you, and give a short briefing about the programme.
• 06:00 am to 08:00 am – Cruise through the backwaters and rivers to see the sunrise and birds.
• 08:15 am to 09:00 am – Cruise through the narrow canal, villages, toddy tapping and tasting, coir making and palm weaving.
• 09:00 am – Have a cup of local tea or coffee, and interact with the locals.

If you are looking for more than just a boat ride, this tour offers a deeper insight into the natural beauty, culture, and traditional lifestyle of Kerala’s backwater villages. All of this is priced at just ₹ 4,000 per person, inclusive of all taxes.

Terms and Conditions:

1. The tour price is ₹ 4,000 per person. A minimum of two participants is required to operate the tour.
2. Children aged 6 to 12 years will be charged 50% of the adult rate. Children below 6 years can join free of charge when accompanied by their parents.
3. Bird sightings cannot be guaranteed. While the tour is conducted in areas where birds are commonly seen, sightings depend on weather, season, and natural conditions. No refunds will be provided in the event that specific birds are not sighted.
4. All applicable taxes are included in the tour price.
5. The tour operates from 6:00 am to 9:00 am. Guests are requested to arrive at least 15 minutes before departure. As this is a scheduled private or group tour, the departure time cannot be changed. No refund will be provided for late arrivals or no-shows.
6. In the event of severe weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances that may affect safety, the tour operator reserves the right to reschedule / cancel the tour with a full refund.
7. Comfortable clothing and footwear are recommended, as guests may need to get off the boat during the village experience.
